About three years ago my wife and I bought two "green broke" Paints (a 5 year old mare and a 4 year old gelding). We did not know Denny at the time and ended up taking them to  "cowboy trainer" who did no ground work and just jumped on them and started what he called training. After I was bucked off a couple of times at his place, and more upsetting seeing how badly he treated the horses, we pulled them out of there.

Shortly thereafter, we were introduced to Denny and after discussing his training style, philosophy, etc. we decided to give him a try. First off, Denny took the time to discuss with us and put in writing what our goals were with the horses and what his training plan was. He also stressed he would like us involved as much as possible so he could pass along to us what he was doing. As the training progressed, we quickly saw how effective Denny was with his ground training and then his in saddle work. He was patient, consistent, goal oriented, and very safety conscious for both himself and the horses. Very importantly, he never mistreated the horses. He made them respectful not scared.

90 days later, we got back 2 horses with solid foundations, who were respectful, much more confident, and  much more flexible and supple. As an example, my gelding was terrified of plastic bags when he went to Denny's. Several months later, while trail riding we came across a picnic table with a flapping plastic tablecloth. Amazingly, my gelding was the first horse to go up to and smell the tablecloth, and then he just walked away. A few months earlier, I would have been on the ground and my horse would have been a half mile away.

Denny truly loves horses and training them and has a great passion for it. We can not recommend him highly enough. We would be happy to talk to anyone about Denny and our experience with him.

For those of you who went to Country Haven in August, you know the outfit that I was wearing. Denny sure was proud of me. He even started singing, "Give Me a, Give Me a, Give Me a Redneck girl."

When I rode horses for him last winter, he always yelled at me for not wearing gloves, and then he'd turn around and give me his. He's a good grandpa (he's not really my grandpa, I just call him that to bug him).

One time while I was at his house, we were working with my Mom's three year old, Traveler. Denny had me lay over Traveler's back , the whole time telling me "if you don't put your other leg over his other side, you won't be riding him so your Mom can't yell at us. So, I was laying over the horse with my face buried in his mane, and gripping with my knees and feet, throwing my butt into the air. My Mom laughed so hard she cried. My foot eventually "slipped" to the other side, so technically, I did ride him ... sorry grandpa.

Denny has been so much fun to be around, and he has taught me so much about training horses. I don't know what I'd do without him.

The pictures above may not mean a lot to the average person, but to everyone that knows Bobbie Jo, they mean only one thing.  Denny has what a lot of people only talk about.  Denny doesn't brag, or tell how great he is, but just watching him work with a horse is something special.

What is very hard to see in the top picture is the blue rope around Bobbie Jo's Front right pastern (ankle).  That rope was on her in August of 2006 and was still on her when she was rescued in June 2007.  Bobbie Jo felt no need to interact with or even trust humans.  Maybe Denny saw the love in her eyes, I don't know.  You can see he has worked miracles with her, and gained her trust, and she now trusts others to even be on her back.

Thank you comes from the bottom of everyone's heart here at the rescue, for not only what you have done with Bobbie Jo, but for what you are doing for all the rescued horses at Indiana Horse Rescue.  You and your team are a God send.  Thank you!!

Wow, I can't thank you enough. Just to give everyone out there an idea of what I was dealing with here is a little background. I bought a 9 year old gelding right before Christmas. He is a very dominant horse and would come at me and rear and kick out with his front feet at me like I was another horse. I thought it was cute at first but three days after I had him my parents came to meet him and we had a great day until I let him loose in the indoor arena. He decided he was going to dig around in the dirt with his nose and when I walked up to him to tell him to stop he laid his ears back. I backed off and went to get his lead rope, he started messing in the dirt again and my dad went to him to tell him to stop. The horse laid his ears back and spun, my dad turned and tried to get out of the way but wasn't fast enough, the horse kicked him in the back.
My dad was knocked to the ground unconscious for over 5 minutes and stopped breathing 3 times. I thought he was going to die, I have never been so scared in my life. My dad ended up with a fractured vertebra and got to go home from the emergency room the same day. I didn't know if I was going to be able to get over the animosity I felt towards the horse but my dad was great and told me it wasn't the horses fault he was just being a horse. I came to accept this but decided I didn't want my horse to be the boss.
I searched the Internet and locally until I found Denny. He offered to help me over the phone because he lives 3 hours away. When he realized what I was dealing with he offered to come to me and work with the horse "Cash" for a day. And let me tell you, what a difference a day can make. Denny spent about 6 hours with me and Cash and taught me different ground exercises to teach him to respect me, trust me and to become desensitized to obstacles. Denny did all of this without laying a hand on Cash, everything he did was with body language and affection. I am so impressed I can't find the right words to express it. I have been working with Cash everyday since Denny was here and in just a few days he has become a new horse. I am planning on working with Cash on the lessons we learned for a few weeks and then have Denny come back and see the progress we have made and hopefully move onto the next step of training.
If you have a problem horse or just want to learn a gentle way to train your horse please call Denny Taylor, you won't be sorry!!!

We could not be happier with the work that Denny has done for us. We took him Denna's 9 year old mare that had a few issues and within 2-weeks she was like a new horse. She is now such a pleasure to ride and it is great to know that any time we need a tune-up or help, Denny is nearby. We were so pleased that we just bought his gelding "Woody" as well and are thrilled to have him.
